Honouring the best at the Singapore Entertainment Awards

More than 5,000 fans thronged The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay where Singapore Entertainment Awards 2013 (SEA) staged a special SEA Award Music Showcase (e乐大赏音乐派对)segment at the inaugural Spring Wave Singapore Music Festival (春浪新加坡音乐节) presented by Tiger Beer on Saturday, 4 May 2013.

Back for the fifth consecutive year, the SEA is organised by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) and fronted by SPH’s leading Chinese entertainment media platforms Lianhe Wanbao, UFM 100.3, U-Weekly and omy.sg. Supported by Lianhe Zaobao, Shin Min Daily News and My Paper, this event aims to honour the best talents, as well as movers and shakers of the Asian entertainment scene in the past year.

Home-grown award-winning artistes, Ming Bridges (乔毓明) and The Freshman comprising Chen Diya (陈迪雅) and Carrie Yeo (杨佳盈) made their appearances at the SEA Award Music Showcase. Ming Bridges won in the Best Local Singer and Best Local Album categories for her work on her album 《明天》, while Chen and Yeo won in the Best Local Lyrics category for their song《眼镜矇矇的》.

A total of 31 awards were presented this year; 12 "Best" awards were judged by a panel of respected professionals in the entertainment and media industry in Singapore and the region, 16 "Most Popular" awards which were determined by SMS or online voting through the official website sgeawards.omy.sg.  More than 3 million overwhelming votes were received by fans online and via SMS for the "Most Popular" categories during the voting period, compared to the 1.13 million online and SMS votes last year.

Mr Chua Chim Kang, Editor of Lianhe Wanbao & omy.sg and Chairman of Organising Committee for SEA said: "The SEA has seen great success in the past years, with a successful regional media showcase held in Taiwan last year. This year, SEA continues to establish itself as a key entertainment Award in the region by collaborating with Taiwan’s number one outdoor music festival, Spring Wave Music Festival. With this collaboration, we hope to create more platforms to showcase Singapore’s very own talents and bring SEA to greater heights with the regional reach.”
