The Straits Times looks at Singapore and the World in 2013

More than 350 people turned up on 23 November for The Straits Times Global Outlook Seminar, presented by Standard Chartered Bank.

The half-day seminar “The World and Singapore in 2013” was organised by The Straits Times to provide participants an opportunity to hear the views on the global economy, business trends and investment opportunities from our guest speakers. The panel consists of ST’s veteran journalists - US Bureau Chief Chua Chin Hon, China Bureau Chief Peh Shing Huei, Europe Bureau Chief Jonathan Eyal, Supervising Money Editor and News Editor Ignatius Low and experts from Standard Chartered Bank - Head of Greater China Research Stephen Green and Chief Investment Strategist of Wealth Management Division Steve Brice.

Ambassador-at-Large Tommy Koh was the guest-of-honour and keynote speaker for “The Straits Times Global Outlook Forum”, while Nominated MP Nicholas Fang was the moderator.

Each took turns to give their views on recent developments - from leadership changes in the US and China to forecasts for Singapore. They also took questions from participants.

The Straits Times also launched a brand-new website, ST Asia Report (http://www.stasiareport.com).  Officially launched by The Straits Times Editor Warren Fernandez, it features news reports, analyses and commentaries on Asia by The Straits Times' worldwide network of correspondents and contributors.

Said Mr Fernandez: "The ST Asia Report website brings in all our Asian content together, so anyone who has an interest in the region has a one-stop site to go to. We hope our readers will find it a rich source of content."
